In light of his recent controversial firing, Former FBI Director James Comey will testify to the Senate Intelligence Committee in a highly anticipated open session today at 10 AM EST / 7 AM PST. The hardest part of starting a minecart railroad in Minecraft is getting it started. Anyone can lay some track in a circle, but what's the best way to stop and start your cart? In this Saturday's workshop, we'll be covering a variety of designs for minecart "train stations", so to speak, that effectively stop and start your minecarts.
As anyone who has tried it knows, stacking pistons on top of each other in order to combine their effects is really, really complicated. Stacking two on top of each other is only slightly hard, but the difficulty rises exponentially with each added piston. Stacking three is pretty tough, and stacking four is downright ridiculous.

Note: This shower is only visible in the Northern Hemisphere. The Quadrantid meteor shower is one of my personal favorites, mainly because of the amount of meteors it produces. You can sight more than 100 meteors per hour- that's more than 1 meter per minute. Even though that doesn't sound like much, it will make your observing experience much more exciting. The peak is short, typically lasting no more than an hour or so. It is more easily observed on the fourth, with its peak at 1:00 AM EST.

BUD switches (short for Block Update Detector) can be triggered without levers, buttons, tripwires, or any other traditional switches. Instead, they're triggered by changes in block status. That is, placing a block, destroying a block, hoeing grass, clearing snow, etc.
Not to be confused with the band, ABBA switches are so named because they reverse outputs such that they fire in A-B-B-A order. So, your redstone devices will essentially fire in one order (A and then B) when activated, and then deactivate in the reverse order (B and then A).

Last week's social engineering phone calls were a blast. We made some friends, and even some enemies. We scored cheap food for some buddies, made some phone bills disappear, and even got a few people some free pizzas. So overall, it was a very successful night. In light of its success, I figured we'd all do another one!
This is the first official announcement for a new weekly activity on Null Byte for the community to participate in. Starting next week, depending on how much traffic we get doing it, we are going to start doing live social engineering calls via Skype. I've made a list below so that you can get a feel for some of things we'll try to accomplish in these calls.
