The Nokia 6 has been out since January, releasing in China before having a slow trickle of releases throughout the year. Despite announcing a global release, the United States never received a street date for the smartphone, and for all this time, Nokia has left us out to dry. Now, it seems, their phone could be on its way as the 6 has received its FCC certification.
With this certification, Nokia appears to be making steps towards a US launch. While there's some reason for excitement, we're urging caution here at Gadget Hacks. No official street date, perhaps no smartphone, you know?
The Nokia 6 isn't a powerhouse by any means, but it's a good mid-level smartphone. It features a Snapdragon 430 chipset with an octa-core 1.4 GHz CPU, and an Adreno 505 GPU. The display is made of Gorilla Glass 3, measures 5.5 inches wide, and has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 FHD. The phone sports 3 GB of RAM, and has expandable storage of up to 32GB.
All this in a phone that, based on foreign pricings, should ring up just under $300 in the US if it comes here. Considering that price point is less than half the price of the Galaxy S8, the Nokia 6 could be a contender for those on a budget.

It's great to see the return of a brand that was once the world's leading cell phone maker, but it's even better that Nokia's phones are now running Android. After an unsuccessful partnership with Microsoft and Windows Phone, we'll finally get a chance to try a modern Nokia phone running a modern operating system.
