It is conceivable that Chinese artist Lei Wei has always dreamt of being a superhero. Or that he simply has the desire to fly. Or maybe he is constantly confronting a fear of heights. Whatever the impetus of his work may be, Wei creates illusions of a dangerous "reality".

But what is perhaps most interesting is that Wei's resulting images are in fact NOT photo montages: "Li Wei works with the help of props such as mirror, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics."

Why not just make a photo montage? Why must it be a "true" reenactment?

fantastic. and embarassingly, the first face shot bears a striking resemblance to ... moi. but i dont have a mullet.

Digital effects are nice and cheap, but there's no substitute for actually dangling someone over the side of a building. Call me old-fashioned...

nutz .....also attractive

I like his superhero outfit. spankies.

These are incredible. How the heck do you do that? I wish we could see a behind the scenes, step-by-step for one of those, would be fun to see these shoots in action...
