Ingredients: blog it, name it something flashy, get a good screengrab, comment on it, and voila--viral! Ummm, maybe.

Evolution of Dance is the most successful viral video to date, with over 100 million views. But it doesn't really fit any of these criteria, yet continues to get 1000s of hits daily three years after it's release. Todays rates indicate over 100,000 new videos are uploaded to YouTube everyday. So no matter how brilliant your work, it's nothing if nobody sees it.
