How To Do common locks for fighting

WeaponsHand Combat

This is the same common lock that has been used in school yards for years. Here, we show you how the typical head lock can be applied to the neck as a Guillotine, the arm as an arm bar and the leg as a leg break. Guillotine- This is by far the best use of this lock. * When you are in a confrontation and either a your attacker has tried to tackle you down or you are in a scrum, you are going to guide your his head into your armpit and grab your own wrist. Now, cinch up as tight as you can and arch back to apply more pressure. If you are on the ground wrap both legs around him as well so he can not maneuver out of it. Arm Bar- ** This move requires the speed and agility of a more advanced student** * Your hands are up protecting yourself and the inside line, a strike comes on the outside of your arm. You snake your arm outside in and grab your own wrist. Now the risk is here is obvious, because your attacker will have his other arm free to throw strikes at you. This must be applied with great speed and timing. It can be delivered during the scrum with all of your body pressure against his elbow and/or a quick snapping motion to snap or rip the ligaments in the elbow. Leg Break - ** This move again, requires speed and agility** * This may seem a little unorthodox especially as viewed here with Amber standing over me and myself on my back. Of course if you find yourself standing free like this your first reaction should be to run ! But for demonstration purposes, we show how this common lock could work in this manner. * You find yourself on top and are attempting to get free from your attacker. Perhaps he is kicking up at you and you realize that if you try to escape now, he will easily be able to attack or chase you. If you want to make sure he isn't able to pursue, this may be the move to make. * This move, in fact, is banned in Mixed Martial Arts because it does not give allowance for a tap out.
