We want you to know how basic blocking works and how simple a concept it really is. Having your hands open or even your forearms in front of your face allows you keep you focus and attention completely on your attacker. Looking away is never an option! "Turtling"; ducking your head hoping it will just go away, will only make matters worse. It gives your assailant the upper hand, tells him you are indeed an easy target and makes him feel even more dominant. If it is not possible to look at your attacker, if it is dark, or your eyes have been covered, don't panic. Many iKickback techniques are designed to be executed by feel, without the sense of sight. You can still 'kick back'. But if you do have the opportunity, it can't be stressed enough: block with open hands and Never take your eyes off your attacker! Always do your best to look with complete focus and intent!
