How To Defend yourself with distraction techniques
Weapons • Hand Combat
These techniques can cause a great deal of pain, while employing the element of surprise. They may very well give you the opportunity to release a hold, escape or deliver another technique. Biting: Although there is a risk of breaking your assailants skin and contracting a transmissible disease, biting can be a very effective means of causing pain and releasing a hold. You must be aware of the risk and make the decision for yourself.
*Note that your attacker will likely be trying to keep you quiet, so there's a good chance he will have his hand over your mouth. You may have to bite it, just so you can yell! Spitting: It is an instinct to either cover up or flinch when someone spits at us. That split second reaction may be all you need to follow up with another technique or escape a hold. Pinching: The nervous system just below the surface of the skin along the backs of the arms is very sensitive. This also applies to the back of the legs, from just above the knee, up towards the buttocks. Pinch in this area with your finger nails and twist. You don't need much skin for this to be very effective! Raking: Use your nails to rake across the face & neck or rip at the ears. You can also rake across the back of your attackers hands to release a hold. Grabbing: Grabbing, twisting and even crushing a man's testicles can cause excruciating pain.
