You may not do it in public, and you might not admit to it among your friends, but you do it. We all do it... sing. We sing when we're alone in our cars, at home when no one's listening, and when we've had a little too much to drink and don't care anymore, all inhibitions aside. We love to croon and belt out lyrics to our favorite songs because it makes us feel good, no matter how good or how awful we are, or how well we know the words. Well... now you can at least be proud of one of those things.

One of the biggest lyrics databases on the web has gone mobile—musiXmatch. Last week, they released a mobile version of their popular song lyrics website for iOS devices. So, now you can sing along to all of your favorite tunes without faking most of the lyrics. You probably already search for lyrics online, since people search for 'lyrics' more than they do 'sex', but now you can use your iPhone—for free! There's also apps for Android, Symbian and Windows Phone 7.

musiXmatch has over 5 million officially licensed lyrics and uses music matching algorithms to correctly place them with all of the songs in your mobile device's music library. So, chances are they have your lyrics—most of them, anyway.

As soon as you open the app, it starts scanning your music. I had over 3,000 songs on my iPhone and took less than a minute to complete the scan. Then it lists your entire iTunes library.

You can then scroll down the long list of songs to find the lyrics of what you want. To make things easier, you can use the 'filter' button to only select certain artists, albums and songs to display in musiXmatch.

You can also just use the 'search' button to find specific bands and songs.

And though 5 million songs sounds like a lot, it's just the tip of the iceberg. I quickly stumped it.

But overall, it's a nice and very handy app, mostly because you can play your iTunes library directly from the lyrics page, so you never have to go into the iPod app again. Well... not when you're singing.

The only bad aspect of the musiXmatch app is that it's hard to scroll, especially when you have a large library. In the iPod app, you can select letters and jump ahead to that section, but you can't in musiXmatch, even in 'filter' mode.

Hmm...this definitely sounds interesting. I wonder if I could make it work with Google Music.

Says it does on the Android Market page. Looks like it supports about 20 different players for Android devices.
