You're in a new city and you want to explore—what mobile app is best? If you want to know what club is hopping that night, use SceneTap. If you want to know if any friends are at a nearby get-together, use Foursquare. If you want to know what restaurant is best, try Yelp. But if you're looking to get a real feel for the city, skip the more touristy destinations and take to the streets—discover where some great graffiti is located or where the best view of the city is with the Trover iPhone application.

Despite its odd choice in name, Trover is a really great social network app that "lets you share discoveries with friends and fellow explorers in a fun, visual way – all based on your location." It's like a combination of Flickr's photo sharing and Instagram's fun, only the images are all geotagged to the exact location. Download it for free and start discovering what's around you. And don't worry Android users, they haven't forgotten about you—they're currently developing one.

The eye-pleasing treasures found in Trover aren't ranked by its users, but goes by an appreciative system, where you simply click "thanks" if you liked something. When you're viewing images around your area, the order is determined by how many "thanks" it received, along with shares and page views.

Though you can browse local street art and taxidermic buffalo heads on bar walls without any logging in, in order to share your own pictures, you need to have a Facebook account—and only a Facebook account. No Google or Twitter account—not even a Trover account, which makes this a Facebook only fave. Hopefully more login support will be added. Nonetheless, it's still worth downloading to find some visual gems around you. Try it out in your neighborhood and see if there's something there you never knew about!
