This video clip shows you how to use the chmod (change file modes) command to set and modify the read, write, and execute permissions for files and directories. Without administrator privileges, you can change permissions only on files and directories for which you are the owner. Use sudo to change permissions on files and directories for which you are not the owner (e.g., "sudo chmod g+rw somefile").
