Use colored flash to tinge photographs

Pop-up colored translucent post-it notes can be attached to the front of a flash, to create a unique effect in the developed picture. The technique demonstrated in this how-to video is much cheaper than buying a fancy filter, and allows for a lot of experimentation with pictures.
