Tweak a old hard drive into a flash memory hard drive

MAKE and Kipkay brings the do-it-yourself mindset to all the technology in your life. Make Magazine celebrates your right to tweak, hack, and bend any technology to your own will.

In this video tutorial episode of Weekend Projects with Kipkay, you'll learn how to tweak a old hard drive into a flash memory hard drive. You can easily take an old outdated hard drive and teach it new secret tricks by increasing it's capacity and speed. Four small flash drives will be needed for this project, among other things.

Check out the original article in MAKE, Volume 17, or check out the "gmgfarrand" original Instructable.

I think the guy is retarded. Why doesn't he make a cassette player into a "hard drive"? Or a rock?

Why does this have a good rating?! Its the most retarded thing I've ever seen. What he created is essentially an external drive that took a lot of money and time and looks like a piece of crap.

Why don't I make a video on how to buy a bunch of expensive flash drive and glue them together instead of just buying one nice external drive.

Wow, "not only have we doubled the capacity of this drive", we've also achieved taking an already cluttered file system, and make it....you guessed it, more cluttered!!! Now if only we could figure out a way to unclutter our DIY project...but that's a project for next weekend:D
So I was right and this guy doesn't only insult musician geeks, like in his "Strung Out" project, he's insulting all geeks. Way to go.
