To overhaul or rebuild your carburetor, first remove and disassemble the carburetor; remove the air cleaner and tag all vacuum lines; inspect all vacuum and fuel lines; use double wrench method on steel lines; no smoking and work in a well ventilated area; disconnect the linkages, mounting bolts and remove the carb; remove the old gasket and clean the mounting surface; disassemble the carburetor, laying parts out on a clean work surface; and record the number of turns required to fully seat the idle mixture screws. Now, clean and inspect the carburetor, replace all necessary parts, assemble it, install it and make some final adjustments.
