This is a simple method of attaching fly line to hollow braid. It’s not dissimilar to that used by game fishermen when attaching a leader to braid. The difference is in the whipping, whereas the fly line being softer, and usually a little more pliable, need only be done over the actual braid that surrounds the fly line and not over the fly line itself. The braid fringe should be trimmed.

There are basic rules that apply to the tying of all knots in nylon monofilament, copolymer and cofilament lines. These rules apply in differing degrees to most of the knots, splices and hitches formed in multi-strand materials, such as Dacron, Micron, braided nylon and wire or cable leaders.
