Test the instrument cluster on your BMW E38

This automotive video tutorial will show you how to test an instrument cluster on a BMW E38 car. IT will show you how to activate an instrument cluster test on a 1995-2001 BMW 7 Series (E38).

First, you'll need to turn the headlight switch to any position, and hear the sound of the automatic headlight leveling sensors. Check out the back lighting illumination of the analog gauges on the dashboard. These are lit by LEDs and are not replaceable. Turn the cars ignition key to position one. The airbag light will light up, along with the odometer, trip meter, and temperature. Now, turn the vehicle to position two. This is a simple instrument cluster light test for your BMW that includes only the fundamental lights; the service engine soon light, the oil pressure light, the alternator light, the dynamic stability control light, and the dynamic braking lights.

If you want to know the rest of the steps to checking your BMW's instrument cluster lights, watch the video. Just note that in order to exit the test mode on your car, simply turn the ignition key to OFF.
