To test your IAC (Idle Air Control) motor, first start the engine and verify momentary high idle, then wiggle the wires to the IAC motor and listen to the RPM's. Turn on the air conditioning or turn the steering wheel hard left or right and listen to the RPM's. Remove the IAC motor, clean the carbon deposits and reinstall the IAC motor. Now check the resistance of the motor with an ohmmeter; two terminal IAC should be 7 to 13 ohms, and a four terminal IAC should be over 20 ohms; set the meter to 20K scale where a 10,000 ohm reading between the terminal and IAC should be obtained.
