Stop automatic capitalization in OpenOffice Calc cells

If you're typing text into OpenOffice Calc, there are some instances, such as mathematical formulae, that you don't want the first letter of your data to be made into a capital letter.

Sounds great, but it isn't so...
I'm using OO Calc, xls-format, Courier New font, centered horizontally. The single letter "g" is being changed to "G". I performed the above procedure, but not change. I exited and re-entered OO, still no change. Clearly, there is some other option or combination that is overriding the Autocorrect setting...
