How to say Mandarin Chinese phrases on the telephone

In the first part, you learned that tai means too. Some examples are (tai re le) too hot, (tai kuai le) too fast, and (tai ben le) too stupid.

Le doesn't really mean anything but it's often used for grammar purposes. Sometimes to make things past tense and sometimes for other reasons.

Try to get used to the instructions in Chinese because they will be used more and more throughout the lessons In this one, you learned qing hui da wenti, which means Answer the question or questions. Wen ti by itself means question or problem.

Another common way to say I don't understand is wo ting bu dong. I've heard this quite often while in china, you WILL hear this as well. This only means I don't understand in terms of language. It literally means I don't understand what I'm listening to.

Now you actually know how to count up to 99. For those who learn very quickly (not me) the 100's are bai is bai for example 100 is yi bai 1 and 100, 200 is (er bai) 2 and 100.

I suggest you practice saying terms like si shi si more often just so that your tongue and your brain can get used to it.
