Roast chestnuts for the holiday season

Roast chestnuts for the holiday season

Roast fresh chestnuts in the oven to add to your holiday dishes. To roast chestnuts, first preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut an X through the shell on the flat side of each chestnut. PLace the nuts in a shallow pan. Roast 25-30 minutes or when the skins open where the X's are and the nuts are tender inside. At 25 minutes, open one to see if it is tender. When the chestnuts are cool enough to handle, squeeze in a towel to loosen the shells. Then peel away the shells and the tough inner lining. Yum! Holiday roasted chestnuts make a delicious Christmas treat.
