Recover a lost Administrator password in Joomla

Recover a lost Administrator password in Joomla

If you have lost your administrator password for Joomla, you may be having trouble figuring out how to either reset it or recover it.? While you cannot recover the password because it uses a one-way MD5 hash, there is a way to reset it by going into the MySQL database and making a quick edit to the jos_users table.

In this video, we will walk you through the process step by step, using MySQL Administrator in Windows.? The process is essentially the same if you are using phpMyAdmin, however.

Note that in the video we will reset the password to "secret" (without the quotes).
