Properly maintain an AR-15 rifle magazine

Follow some expert gunsmiths at Brownells as they walk you through simple procedures for customizing, repairing, and maintaining your firearms. This weapons video tutorial will teach you how to properly maintain an AR-15 rifle magazine.

The AR-15 is one of the most adaptable rifle platforms in history, and building one is easier than you think. Brownells has produced video instructions on how to maintain and inspect your Brownells AR15/M16 magazines. This works for all mags, and is simple. From time to time you want to take them apart and make sure everything is good, and maybe replace a few parts.

Take the spring and follower out and make sure the mag follower is not cracked, broken, chipped or burred. Make sure the spring isn't overly twisted, cracked or broken. Use a brush to clean the inside of the magazine out and briefly clean the spring and reassemble the mag.
