How to preserve a paint brush overnight If you are not done with your paint project and you don't want to totally clean up, wrap your brush, with paint on it, in a cellophane wrap. Make sure it is sealed tight and put in the refrigerator. You can keep it in the refrigerator 10 to 12 hours. When ready to use, remove from the frig, remove wrap and start working.
