How to point and flute the comb of a rifle stock

Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, details the process for reshaping the comb of a rifle stock by pointing and fluting the comb. This process starts by truing up the comb to straighten it and eliminate any high spots. Once the comb is completely flat, the point of the comb is cut to a 135 degree angle followed by cutting a nice radius into the top of the wrist.
The second part of the process is fluting each side of the comb. These flutes give the stock a well styled appearance. The flutes generally start a quarter of an inch down from the top of the comb and are one inch in length. These are cut with a round, bastard file. Once the flutes are blended into the wrist, the top of the comb is rounded off.
