Power chords are not really that exciting or hard to play, but they are a fundamental part of metal guitar playing, so you had better be able to play them extremely well.

The purpose of the exercises and the samples is to learn how to play quickly and efficiently, while being clean. They are intentionally very simple and easy. Anyone can play a power chord but only a great player can play them well. So don't focus on just doing the exercises. Instead, focus on learning how to play them perfectly and cleanly.
