Play electric guitar blues like Stevie Ray Vaughn

Play electric guitar blues like Stevie Ray Vaughn

If you're a musician in need of some lessons, there's no better way to learn than with MusicRadar's so-called "Tuition" instructions. Although the title tuition is misleading, this video class is anything but costly, because it's free, right here. Whether you're looking for help with your voice, bass, electric guitar, drums, guitar effects, piano, Logic Pro or production techniques, Music Radar is here to show you the way.

If you've ever wanted to play blues like the greats, MusicRadar shows you their style. Just pick up your electric blues guitar and think of what blues guitarist you want to play like.

Sound like the man who practically invented bluesy rock! This video tutorial will teach you to play blues on an electric guitar like Stevie Ray Vaughn. Texas-born Stevie Ray Vaughn originally wanted to be a drummer, but was given a guitar when he was eight instead.

Watching his older brother Jimmie play guitar inspired Stevie to take up the instrument seriously himself, and with influences like Albert King and Lonnie Mack, Stevie developed a masterful touch at re-working Hendrix classics like "Little Wing" and "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)". He had a passionate and ferocious blues style and was championed by everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Wonder and John Lee Hooker.

In this video tutorial, we show you how to add some Texas passion to your blues playing with some sizzling SRV-style licks. Stevie used to tune his guitar down a semitone for a darker sound, but for simplicity's sake, all the examples here are in standard tuning.
