Play blues on an electric guitar like Billy Gibbons

If you're a musician in need of some lessons, there's no better way to learn than with MusicRadar's so-called "Tuition" instructions. Although the title tuition is misleading, this video class is anything but costly, because it's free, right here. Whether you're looking for help with your voice, bass, electric guitar, drums, guitar effects, piano, Logic Pro or production techniques, Music Radar is here to show you the way.

If you've ever wanted to play blues like the greats, MusicRadar shows you their style. Just pick up your electric blues guitar and think of what blues guitarist you want to play like.

This video tutorial will teach you to play blues on an electric guitar like Billy Gibbons. Texas-born Billy Gibbons got his first exposure to blues music from the Afro-Caribbean maid in his suburban household. Elvis, Little Richard and Jimmy Reed also played their part in Billy's love of blues.

Billy Gibbons is fond of staccato pinch harmonics, but these are generated in a fairly random fashion, rather than the measured precision of someone like Eric Johnson. Use the bridge pickup and enough distortion to 'saturate' the tone, without being fizzy.
