How to make french toast

Velvety on the inside, crisp on the outside, great French toast is like the delicious love child of bread and custard. Here's how to make it yourself. (Plus it is cheap and easy to make! Great for college students)

You will need:
a large, shallow dish
1 large egg beaten
2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
3/4 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
5 slices of thick bread
a skillet and a spatula
