Dear Viewers, It is interesting to watch this happen however it did not show fire. This is HowTo make fire and I understand HowTo make it now with the materials but it would be nice to see actually what he was explaining. This tutorial was the equivalent of just give the step-by-step intrucctions in text form and not video. Extremely boring.

The poster of the video should have mentioned that the chocolate used to clean the can should not be eaten after as it will contain metal particles that are potentially hazardous to your health. Also, this technique used properly can produce fire, one just has to know what tinder to use. A dead leaf on the ground is not good tinder because it was on the ground. This means that the leaf was sitting on a wet surface and thus has retained some water content and the ignition point of a leaf is higher than that of better tinder options. The video seems to show that the technique can be highly effective if used properly.

I've tried this and haven't ever been able to make it work. The person who posted the video apparently had the same problem because if you look at the shadow, he or she was using a magnifying glass to focus the sun's rays, and only holding the can near the leaf. Because of the shape of the bottom of the can, it has to be pointed at the sun, and the focal point is about 1-2 inches out (depending on the can). But, as noted, it's tough to do. Unless you also happen to have a magnifying glass, or better yet, a match or lighter. Then it works pretty well for starting a fire, provided you use the match or lighter. I've seen it done with just a can, but not in this clip.

there are far better ways to start a fire.... idiot shouldn't make a video about starting fire with a can and then pull out a magnifying glass.
