Make a potassium nitrate and sugar smoke bomb

Make a potassium nitrate and sugar smoke bomb

By mixing potassium nitrate (KNO3) and sugar, you can get one hell of an amazing smoke bomb or rocket propellent. This video tutorial will show you how to make the potassium nitrate and sugar smoke bomb, just use extreme caution when making it.

Check out the second video for a more detailed hands-on version of the process. It has more information about making the "Pla-Doh" pyrotechnic mix. The proportions are two parts potassium nitrate for every three parts sugar. Add about two cups of water for each pound of saltpeter, only adding more if necessary to dissolve the saltpeter.

you could use it like for a movie if you wanted to show a storm coming over a city by filming the sky when the smoke ascends.

Awesome. Though what is that you put the smokebomb in? Also, you might not want to re-use the pot you "cook" it in, and please wear plastic or latex gloves when handling.
