Lubricate a break open shotgun to reduce wear

Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, takes you through all of the steps necessary to properly lubricate a break open style shotgun. This technique can be applied to numerous side-by-side, over and under, and single barrel shotguns, delaying the effects of long term wear and use.

This technique is taught using a Tipton moly based grease rather than oil. This prevents oil from running into the wood and softening it. Wear points on the receiver are addressed first, specifically the knuckle and the hinge pin. Other areas that require lubrication are the hook and bite on the barrels. The lubrication of choke tubes is also discussed.
