How to install an elevator

Access Industries in Kansas and some carpenters from the Whitaker Company are installing a elevator in an accessible house in Roxbury, Massachusetts. They had to deal with finding enough space to place the elevator in the house. A closet space is used for the elevator and there is no penthouse on top of the elevator unit nor is there a pit in the ground which is pretty amazing because most elevators have one or the other. The elevator operates on rails in the rear of the unit. A sling package stops the elevator from falling if the cables accidentally break. This is another great video by Bob Vila.
