xxlilkidnotxx: Maybe he connected the display to his computer with the VGA or DVi port on the screen? Isn't that quite obvious...

Ahh yes, nothin better than #$%@ing up my $400 flatscreen to produce a rigged pain in the ass Pseudo projector. Iv done this before, lackluster results. But the video is cool in any case.

I have finished my build after viewing this vid. I have 120" screen getting 1280 X 1024, IT LOOKS FABULOUS . I built case that keeps everything very secure and cool the 15" TFT I used has a built in tv tuner with PIP and composite, s-video, and VGA inputs, with a remote control and on board audio with output and inputs for each video source and speakers for when it gets taken somewhere. keep in mind.... the more features the monitor has , the more your projector will have......
Monitor $50 on CL
Overhead $35 on CL
a dozen bulbs (200 hours each +/-) $15 on ebay
everything else was household supplies
----------------TOTAL $100---------------
I have gotten rid of my 32" HDTV as my main tv.... great for GAMES TV and COMPUTER........THANKS FOR THE VID!!!!!

What is the LCD screen connected to? Also what was the square object placed on the side of the projector? Why after all the trouble did the author not give explicit instructions? Good thought but incomplete. A worthwhile project for sure.

-_- can't believe you noobs STILL don't understand how t his works
its SO simple to get
: LCD monitors are pretty much layers of Liquid Crystals( hint: LCD) the white cover is there to prevent the viewer from seeing the background of the monitor case. \The black layer thats know as the display is see-through.
For people who don't understand it.
The concept is trying to get the black layer off the case and putting into a projector. The monitor cannot be widescreen needs to be the same inches as the projector.

how durable is this contraption. Will the LCD screen melt? Where do you get a cooling fan and how do you install it?

It's not fake. He placed just the LCD screen on the Overhead Projector and the high voltage board only. without mentioning that you have to re-connect everything, he skips it and shows you what it looks like when It's finished. He has all the other boards and wires connected and covered with some cardboard and some tape. All the components he took out of the LCD monitor are very much needed to make it run.

all he is doing really is just slimming it down so it will fit on the projector and look nice.
