Lift one foot onto its toes while the other is left flat, and then do the same with the other foot, gradually making them seem like a 'wave'. This is a vital thing to be able to do to make your glide flow. Do exactly what you were just doing without the 'wave' and start to 'walk' backwards, or in whatever direction you are planning to go in, I'd stick with backwards because it would use two feet.
