How to do a Headspring - Wushu

In this lesson you will learn how to do a headspring in Wushu martial arts.

The Headspring, also called Flip Flop, in chinese "An Tou", is a technique similar to the the
gymnastic front handspring and the wushu kip up. It`s basically a mixture of a headstand and a kip up. Some wushu di tang artists perform headsprings only from their head ( without hand support ).

Description: Wushu Headspring

* Put your hands down in front of you, to minimize the pression to your head.
* The Head goes down to the floor and the legs leave the ground
* Try to move up your legs as straightened as possible until they are almost upright.
* Accelerate your legs with your hip and back muscles, to create a momentom which makes you pop forward and land on your legs again. This leg-kick is the same leg-kick you generate to stand up with a kip up.

Trainer advice: Wushu Headspring

* Work on your hand and headstand
* Learn the kip up
* Make sure your head really touches the floor when your legs go up. ( Legs stay closes always )
