Do a handstand turn for gymnastics

This is an animated gymnastics tutorial for the handstand turn. Use the controls to pause, slow down and follow along with detailed step by step text instructions that match up with each movement. This instructional gymnastics video is incredibly in depth and a great guide for learning the handstand turn.

Handstand Turn - Gymnastics

In this lesson you will learn how to turn around in a handstand position. You should learn the handstand turn before you learn acrobatic flips with twists. Start practicing this technique right after the normal handstand.

Trainer advice: Handstand Turn - Gymnastics

* You can either initiate the turn shortly before your legs reach vertical level, or stay in a stable handstand for a few seconds and then turn around fast.
* The instruction above is for a 180 degree turn with 2 steps. The 180° handstand turn can also be done with 3 steps. (adjusting the left hand a bit before you start turning around)
* Once you can do the 180° handstand turn, you can try the 360° turn. The 360° turn ideally is done with 4 steps.
