Do a butterfly twist

Do a butterfly twist

This video shows how to do a butterfly twist. In gymnastics this is called tong bei and in capoeira, a mariposa com giro. Before you try the butterfly twist, your butterfly kick should be pretty good. The runup for the b-twist and the b-kick are the same. The difference is that when you do a butterfly kick, your keep your arms wide open and when you do a butterfly twist, you close your hands in front of your chest or your abs. It is very important that you swing our right leg up very high and don't bend the knee. The higher you swing the right leg, the more horizontal you will twist. The butterfly twist should be somewhere between 45 degrees and horizontal. Everything higher than horizontal is considered a cartwheel without hands with twist. Performed by Song Long Yong, Lu Peng Cheng and Yang Jia Le from the Song Jiang Wushu School China. Coach: Wang Guang Ming (wushu head coach).
