This anatomical video tutorial will show you a deep look inside the hip and thigh area of a human, much like yourself. If you're a medical student and you need cadaver dissection instructions, this anatomy video will help you along your way. Learn how to dissect a human for the hip, posterior thigh, and leg. Maybe you can practice this procedure on a lamb's leg or something, before you cook it.

1. Review the bony landmarks and osteology.
2. Define the gluteus maximus and reflect it laterally.
3. Reflect the gluteus medius and examine the superior gluteal vessels and nerve.
4. Define the greater and lesser sciatic foramina and the structures traversing each.
5. Dissect the hamstrings from origin to insertion.
6. Define the popliteal fossa, clean and identify its contents.
7. Remove the subcutaneous tissue from the posterior surface of the leg and dissect the superficial posterior compartment.
8. Reflect the soleus and dissect the deep posterior compartment of the leg.
