Dissect a human for the deep back and spinal cord

This anatomical video tutorial will show you a deep look inside the back and spinal cord of a human, much like yourself. If you're a medical student and you need cadaver dissection instructions, this anatomy video will help you along your way. Learn how to dissect a human for the deep back and spinal cord. Before dissection, before you get your hands dirty, learn the osteology of the area first.

1. Review the bony landmarks and osteology.
2. Move the deep back muscles laterally.
3. Using a chisel and mallet remove the spinous processes and laminae from the length of the vertebral column.
4. Open the dura mater and identify the features of the meninges, spinal cord and spinal nerve roots.
5. Dissect out a spinal nerve laterally until it divides into primary rami.
