Disassemble the M1 Carbine rifle

Disassemble the M1 Carbine rifle

You have an M1 Carbine rifle, but it's all together... how do you get that rifle apart? This weapons video will show you how to disassemble the M1 Carbine rifle, which is a lightweight semi-automatic carbine that was used by the military in the 50's and 60's.

First, remove the magazine and check to make sure it is not loaded. Now, open the bolt and lock it back with the latch, and check the chamber again. Remove the sling and loosen the barrel band screw. Press the spring clip and release the barrel band and remove the upper handguard and the barrel with action. Next, remove the trigger housing pin and the trigger housing. Remove the recoil spring and guide out of the face of the receiver and remove the operating rod. Finally, there's the bolt to remove and you have a fully field stripped M1 Carbine firearm.

I purchased a new auto ord M1 more than a year ago and have yet to shoot it. I noticed the charging handle would come out of its guide rail when I would pull the handle back. Then it came completely off and out of the gun without disassembly of the gun. Is there something wrong? I am watching your video to learn how to get to it so I can reassemble the charging handle.
