This video tutorial will show you how to diagnose and replace your car's accelerator pump. To service the accelerator pump, first know that some Ford and Holley units may not need carburetor disassembly. Remove the accelerator pump cover and pump, then position the new pump, pump spring and reinstall the cover. Rochester, Carter and import units may require disassembly. Obtain a carburetor kit and replace gaskets as needed. Remove the accelerator pump and plunger, then remove the cup with a small screwdriver. Install the new cup and reinstall the pump and reassemble the carburetor.
