Crochet a Catherine Wheel stitch blanket B+ 0:59

This video tutorial demonstrates how to crochet a Catherine Wheel stitch blanket. Stitching a Catherine Wheel takes more time than other crochet patterns, but it is well worth it. As seen here, it is possible to crochet two colors of yarn as one to re-enforce the rainbow gradation pattern. The Catherine Wheel is defined as a Gothic marigold, or circular shaped, spinning firework. The radiating colonettes of the stitched wheel resemble spokes. This crochet pattern creates a thick and intricate blanket of overlapping wheels.

Hi,

This video is helpful although it is confusing as to when you need to do single crochet or double crochet. Are there written instructions anywhere?

This is such a beautiful blanket...but it's a real yarn gobbler! Be sure to stock up on yarn when it goes on sale! :)

I need written instructions, too. It is difficult to see where you are putting your hook, the yarn is dark and your thumb is covering the stitches. I love the pattern and would love to try it.

Your video was easy to understand and I am anxious to get started making an afghan for my son. I made a swatch to see how this stitch flows and it was so easy. Thanks again for your very informative video!

mikeyssmall, I have created a written version of your videos complete with photos and detailed pattern instructions. I'd love to post this on a free pattern site someplace. Do I have your permission to do so? Any special site? Can U check it first?
