I have a little Cocker mix female pup that is 12 years old. I have raised her from the day she was born. She is as smart as a whip, and all I have ever done from day one is talk to her just like you are doing on your video. She is like one of my kids only difference is, she does listen.

The answer to your question is both. I have four dogs med sized mixed breeds.two one year old brothers and a female and male 5-6 years old. I spend time on a one to one bases with them teaching tricks etc.communicating and also work (play) with them in a group.Once in a while someone shows attitude or aggression to another (not when i'm working with them )and I yell loud, they freeze then i send them to thier crates or send the agressor outside and make the others rest. also we play in a group with one at a time responding to my request. it works well unless there is a distraction (outside noise) then everyone goes bonckers! then it's back to I AM THE LEADER! and we go back to the I am the pack leader scenario again as it seems one of them wants the position. so, it's both for now. my goodness, having a pack sure does change things but so far they are sure fun. love your videos!
