Cast on with work in progress when knitting

Cast on with work in progress when knitting

Ever wonder how to cast on with work in progress when knitting? Well, wonder no more with this knitting demonstration video!

There are several ways to accomplish this, but I'm going to show you the one I like best. It's the one I use in the Knitting At Knoon patterns, and I refer to it as a "knitted on" cast on.

To cast on stitches at the beginning of an existing row:
Make a knit stitch in the first stitch, but leave it on the needle. With the right-hand needle, put a backwards twist on this stitch as you place it onto the left hand needle. Repeat the process in this new stitch. Continue until all the required stitches have been added.

To cast on stitches at the end of an existing row, or in the middle of a row, you must first turn the work. The process is then the same as described above.

Congratulations! You are know an expert at casting on with work in progress when knitting. Pass this knitting tutorial video on to knitting buddies if you have found it helpful!
