A cedar shoe tree will absorb the moisture from the shoe, and this will the life of the shoe by making sure that the material doesn't start to break down too quickly. Storing your shoes in the original box can cause them to retain harmful moisture. It's better to let your shoes sit in the closet, or on a shoe hanger inside the closet, so they can air dry.
