Build a solar powered bedside lamp

Build a solar powered bedside lamp

This is a simple "take home" solar energy lamp project, based around a dirt cheap solar garden lamp, which suits enthusiastic ten-year-olds (with modest adult help).

All that you need is a solar garden lamp, some tin snips, and some sandpaper. A drill will also be needed, along with a battery, some pliers, and some cardboard.

It's a great little flashlight project for your children, with a bright light, which of course needs to be charged in the sun.

The power is collected and then stored into the battery, when night comes along the battery will be charged allowing you to use it.
