Very nice, but how can you tell if the laser beam is on the photocell in daylight?
You can buy an ir pass filter that only allows the specific frequency/wavelength of the ir laser ur using. That way the photo resistor will ignore all light wavelengths except that of ur ir pass filter. U could also put a shield or toilet paper tube over ur photo resistor but I need to make sure it's not blocking the laser light. Many floppy discs when u remove the circular disc inside the square casing are ir pass filters but make sure by testing it'll allow ur ir laser frequency to pass too

I have a recording of my dad shouting 'f@ck f@ck, my f@cking eyes', then some stumbling noises. I recorded it with my laser microphone and stored it on the laptop my dad used to beat me with.

Actually I tried too... it's sketchy at best, all I got were pops and static. Not only that, but getting a decent reflection off a window and having hte photocell pick it up is difficult, over a distance it's virtually impossible. A great concept but pulling it off in this manner basically doesn't work.

I don't know if this particular design would work or not, but it's similar in concept to a design that was published many years ago in a major electronics magazine.
In the very next issue, the magazine was chewed out by an American law enforcement agency (can't remember which one) for publishing the design for an "illegal device" and encouraging their readers to build it.
If you build one and it works, I'd keep it quiet....

use a infared laser and adjust it using goggles that can see it!
Hard part is you have to be where the laser reflects too, strait out and just as high up, making this very hard to do unless its the girl next door and your windows are strait across from each others, but for some reason after the lights go out I hear a Buzzing noise? Do you think shes brushing her teeth with a electric toothbrush in the dark in her bedroom?

this is bullsh*t. using a 3.5 headphone jack will not work, your not even using standard microphone wire. if they had used a 3pin XLR or 3.5 microphone cable it would have more believable!
Don't try it, youyr money likely to fry you motherboard from putting an input which isnt sound into your laptop!
Umm... No. Headphone jacks are the same as microphone jacks.
The other day I cut the wires on 2 headphones, and used alligator clips to attach the strands of wire in both headphones. Basically I had a cable with two headphone jacks on each end. I then plugged one jack into my iPod, and the other into my laptop's microphone input. I played a song on the iPod, and Windows Sound Recorder heard it perfectly through the "headphone" jack plugged into the mic input.
