Blue and finish a rifle barrel

Blue and finish a rifle barrel

A beautifully blued barrel is exceptionally pleasing to the eye. This video explains the process for finishing a barrel using Art's Belgium Blue, a unique cold bluing product. This process starts by immersing the barrel in scalding hot water to heat the metal, using wooden dowels that have been turned to plug the chamber and the muzzle. Once the metal has been heated the water is wiped off using a clean cotton cloth. The bluing solution is applied to the metal using a clean cotton swab and long, deliberate strokes. The barrel is then reheated in the hot water and scrubbed using OOOO steel wool. This process is repeated until the desired level of blue is reached.
