Step 1

Attach it by first sticking the pin all the way through the textile so that the entire pin is at the back. Place the top part of the brooch over the textile to give you an idea of where the hook will be (see the "plus" sign). The hook is the curved wire at the back where the pin goes through (see picture).
Step 2

Notice how the brooch with pin goes all the way through the textile and, in position, enables you to judge where the hook is going to be.
Step 3

Put the top of your thumb here to ‘remember’ the place.
Step 4

Pull out the pin a bit to allow you to push the tip back through the front of the textile. Bring the pin through the front; a little before the spot you marked ("plus" sign). Place and push it through to the back 5 to 6 mm after. You now have an exposed bit of pin on the front of the garment opposite where the hook is on the brooch.
Step 5

Look at the position of the pin at the back of the textile. Notice at the right, the tip of the pin and the little place to the left of it where it is not visible. It is this place (on the other side of course) where you have to attach the hook.
Showing here is the front just before the attaching of the hook through the little visible part of the pin.
Step 6

View this and see how it looks from the side when the hook is attached through the little visible part of the pin.
Same situation as last picture, front view.
Warnings
- Be gentle and careful when trying to hook and unhook the brooch. You need some skill and experience, but once you practice, satisfaction is guaranteed.
