Ever buy one of those store bought hose hangers that last a season and then you have to find a way to recycle it because it broke...and it only cost $29.95! Well here's a way to recycle first, and not pay a dime for a hose hanger! It'll last as long as your house.

Step 1

Find an old or used full size automobile tire rim.

Step 2

Paint it any color with an oil based paint to keep it from rusting.

Step 3

Using a 1/2 inch wood lag approximately 7 in. in length and a washer. Fasten the tire rim to the corner of the house closest the hose bib {water valve} with the wood lag, tighten with 1/2 in. socket and ratchet or sink a 4x4 pressure treated post into the ground and positioned as close to the hose bib as possible.

Step 4

Fasten the rim to the post with the wood lag.

Tips

  • Using a 1/2 in bit pre drill hole for the wood lag. Then using a carpenters hammer, tap in the lag till secure in the predrilled hole. Then tighten down using a 1/2 in. socket a 4 in. extension and a ratchet with a 1/2 in. drive. Also if you are using a separate 4x4 post.. Dig a 1 ft. hole using post hole digger, 2 X larger than the post, than mix and pour quick drying cement into the hole along with the post.
  • A wood lag is also known as a coach bolt. It's a wood screw with a hexagonal head and it's tightened with a wrench/spanner and not a screwdriver.

Warnings

  • When using tools wear work gloves and safety glasses. And remember always measure twice cut once................

Things You'll Need

  • a 1/2 in. X 7 in. wood lag and a washer.
