Want to get the infamous Lee R Wilson Memorial achievement on Halo 3 but don't know how? Need tips on how to get it? Well luckily for you, here are a few hints on how to unlock it.

Note - The Lee R Wilson Memorial achievement is an online multiplayer accomplishment and is worth 5 gamer-score points. It is unlocked by getting 5 grenades sticks while playing a ranked free-for-all playlist match.

Step 1

Play in a ranked free-for-all playlist, which is the only type of playlist that you can earn this achievement in. Of course, only Lone Wolves qualifies as a ranked free-for-all playlist which is available at all times (although Legendary Brawl is available infrequently on Double Experience Weekends), so start there. You'll be playing against a few other players around your own skill level, so be prepared for a quick, furious and closely fought game. The Lone Wolves playlist can be accessed from the Ranked playlists in Matchmaking.

Step 2

Get accustomed to using plasma and spike grenades which you will need in order to stick 5 players in one Lone Wolves match. Either type of grenade is allowed, so take the time to practice in a custom game or Forge session before attempting to unlock the achievement. Frag grenades will not count towards this achievement.

Step 3

Wait for a map with readily available plasma or spike grenades; although every Lone Wolves map has plasma or spike grenades, they are harder to access on maps such as Epitaph, while maps such as Guardian and The Pit have lots of grenades easily accessible.

Step 4

Keep close to your supply of grenades. You have to stick 5 players, and you're bound to miss a few times, so you'll need as many plasma or spike grenades as you can. Try to stay in cover and not be too obvious, but stay close so that you can grab them as soon as they re-spawn. Grenades generally re-spawn every 10 seconds.

Step 5

Choose which enemies to try and stick. Opponents with short-range weapons are the easiest to stick, since to kill you they must get close. They closer they are, the easier it is for you to aim and throw a plasma or spike grenade at them. Players with weapons such as shotguns, magnums, maulers, gravity hammers and energy swords are easier targets than opponents with spartan lasers, sniper rifles, battle rifles and beam rifles, who will probably kill you before you get close enough to be effective with your grenades.

Step 6

Lure your enemy in. Whether picking up a less powerful weapon to make yourself more enticing, or some other tactic to get your opponent in close to you, you have to try and get your opponent close enough to stick them.

Step 7

Throw your grenade directly at them at the right moment. It helps if you they are moving in a direct line towards you. Although this will make it easier to hit them, you will still have to act quickly and throw it at the right height and length; in most instances you will only have a few moments to throw your grenades.

Step 8

Throw some random grenades into highly frequented areas of the map - who knows, you might get a few lucky, long-range sticks. If you see two player fighting together, take the opportunity to throw a couple of plasma or spike grenades their way also.

Step 9

Stick 5 opponents before the game is completed (either by someone scoring 25 kills or at the 10 minute time limit). Try and get the sticking out of the way first so you won't have to rush later on. Note that you do not have to get 5 grenade stick kills without dying - simply getting 5 grenade stick kills throughout the whole game will be enough to unlock the achievement.

Step 10

Check your Xbox 360 gamerscore and achievement statistics and you will see that the Lee R Wilson Memorial achievement has been unlocked for 5 gamerscore. It is represented by a round star with a 5 in the middle.

Tips

  • Sticking someone in a vehicle may be preferable since they pose a larger target to aim at. On Isolation and High Ground, both mongoose and ghosts are available.

Warnings

  • Don't expect to win while trying to get this achievement. Unless you are extremely adept at sticking opponents with grenades, it will be hard to win and get 5 sticks at the same time. As such, it might be preferable to try and unlock this achievement when you are first starting to play Lone Wolves so as your rank doesn't go down.
  • Stay calm and relax - you might not unlock the achievement the first time around, so keep at it.
  • This achievement is an online multiplayer achievement, so you will need access to Xbox LIVE to unlock it.
